On our first day in Ghana we visited director of Special Education and visited a national park.
Greetings form Ghana! Today, we visited the director for the Ghanaian division of special education: Anthony Botang. We were warmly welcomed and thereafter, Dr. Crowley reviewed the goals set out for professional development with Ghanaian educators. Issues raised included concerns about transitioning, generalization, and independent living for special needs children and adults. Mr. Botang was a source of quality information on inclusive education and advocating for those with special needs. Later in the evening, we visited traditional sites including a wooden casket carving and the exceptional Kakum National Park tree canopies. This exhilarating experience closed with a drive to Coconut Grove and church service to bring in the new year. Happy 2016!! In Twi: Afehyia pa!
